Policy Officer – Security & Defence Partnerships (EU)

About the role

The European External Action Service is seeking a Policy Officer to support security and defence cooperation with partners in the Indo‑Pacific region. The role focuses on developing and managing EU partnerships in peace, security and defence, contributing to the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate security and defence cooperation initiatives with Indo‑Pacific partners.
• Analyse and develop policy proposals on EU peace, security and defence partnerships.
• Support horizontal issues related to EU partnerships in the field of security and defence.
• Collaborate with EEAS divisions, EU delegations, the European Commission, the Council and international organisations such as the UN and NATO.
• Prepare briefing notes, reports and policy documents for senior officials.

Required profile

• Successful completion of the CAST exam.
• Relevant academic background in international relations, security studies, political science or a related field.
• Experience in policy analysis or coordination within an international or diplomatic context is desirable.
• Strong understanding of EU foreign and security policy frameworks.
