AI‑Supported Hardware Development & Maintenance Internship

About the role

Televic Rail is seeking a motivated student to undertake an internship/thesis focused on integrating AI support into its hardware development and maintenance processes. The work will involve exploring how artificial intelligence can automate and enhance tasks related to PCB design, documentation, reliability calculations, compliance checks, and obsolescence prediction.

Key responsibilities

• Research AI and machine‑learning techniques applicable to hardware design and maintenance.
• Develop prototypes that integrate AI assistance into the Altium365 design workflow.
• Automate generation of design documentation from specifications and schematics.
• Implement models for reliability, Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) estimation, and compliance verification (RoHS, REACH).
• Analyse production data to detect trends, predict component obsolescence, and suggest corrective actions.
• Validate and experiment with the implemented solutions on real PCB assemblies.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in AI, machine learning, and their application to hardware engineering.
• Ability to work independently on research, implementation, and experimentation phases.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Altium365 or similar PCB design tools.
• Basic knowledge of machine‑learning concepts and frameworks.
• Understanding of electronics hardware, PCB layout, and validation processes.
