Senior Software Engineer (C# / .NET)

About the role

Moody's is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve mission‑critical .NET applications powering the Orbis platform. You will drive performance, reliability, security and modernization across large‑scale financial data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Support and evolve mission‑critical applications, ensuring stability, maintainability, security and performance.
• Lead analysis and resolution of complex production issues and recurring problems.
• Design and drive optimization initiatives for application performance, database queries, indexing and technical debt reduction.
• Define technical approaches for new features, aligning with architectural standards and long‑term objectives.
• Assess current architectures and recommend pragmatic modernization, including targeted adoption of .NET 10.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment and production monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, design and data teams to deliver solutions that support business goals.
• Champion engineering excellence standards for systems handling sensitive financial data while mentoring engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience delivering production‑grade software in a full‑stack environment.
• Proven ability to design software architecture using layered, clean‑architecture and SOLID principles.
• Strong database expertise with SQL Server schema design, query optimization, stored procedures and ORM tools.
• Experience with performance analysis, profiling, query tuning and diagnosing production bottlenecks at scale.
• Ability to evaluate architectural trade‑offs across scalability, reliability, maintainability, cost and modernization.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, distributed systems and testing strategies.
• Hands‑on experience with AI tools to streamline workflows and implement AI‑powered solutions.
