Academic in Optimization and Learning for Data‑Driven Decision Systems

About the role

The Louvain School of Management and the Louvain Institute of Data Analysis and Modeling seek a full‑time academic to develop teaching and research in optimization and learning for data‑driven decision systems.

Key responsibilities

• Teach bachelor’s and master’s courses in programming, operations research, artificial intelligence and quantitative decision making in English and French across the Louvain‑la‑Neuve and Mons campuses.
• Develop a strong international research agenda on advanced optimization methods, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and learning‑integrated decision frameworks; publish in leading journals and supervise doctoral students.

Required profile

• PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Management Engineering or a closely related quantitative field.
• Proven university teaching record with formal evaluations and an independent research track record in operations research, mathematical programming or learning‑based optimization.

Required skills

• Mathematical optimization (linear, integer, stochastic, robust, distributionally robust, chance‑constrained).
• Predictive and prescriptive analytics bridging forecasting and decision‑making.
• Machine learning, reinforcement learning and AI techniques integrated with optimization.

• Teaching load capped at 90 hours (full‑time) and 150 hours (tenured).
