Patent Litigation Associate (1-5 Years PQE) – Brussels

About the role

Our client, a leading international IP law firm, is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate to join its Brussels office. The role offers exposure to high‑stakes, cross‑border patent disputes in life sciences, electronics and telecommunications, including cases before the Unified Patent Court.

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, develop case strategies and manage evidence for multi‑jurisdictional patent infringement and revocation proceedings.
• Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio strength, freedom‑to‑operate and regulatory issues to global clients in pharma, biotech and technology sectors.
• Participate in pioneering Unified Patent Court matters, leveraging the firm’s early‑mover advantage.
• Collaborate with specialized patent attorneys and lawyers across international offices to deliver integrated legal and technical solutions.

Required profile

• 1–5 years post‑qualification experience in intellectual property, focusing on patent litigation.
• Qualified to practice law in Belgium.
• Native‑level fluency in Dutch and/or French and professional‑grade English (C1/C2).
• Technical background (MSc or PhD in life sciences, chemistry or engineering) is desirable.
• Proactive, pioneering mindset with ability to translate complex technical innovations into clear legal arguments.
