Human Resources Officer

About the role

The NATO International Staff is looking for a Human Resources Officer to provide day‑to‑day operational HR support to assigned divisions and independent offices. You will ensure accurate HR administration, smooth onboarding, and consistent application of NATO HR policies while acting as the first point of contact for staff inquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact for HR and policy queries from managers and staff, delivering timely assistance.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end onboarding for NATO International Civilians, voluntary national contributions, temporary staff, and interns.
• Support recruitment processes in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Unit and act as HR representative or panel secretary during selection panels.
• Provide administrative support for internal transfers and analyse alternative staffing options with other HR sections.
• Contribute to cross‑functional HR projects and monitor contract lifecycles for staff.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three years of administrative management experience, preferably in an international organization.
• Experience in customer‑service or advisory roles with strong communication skills.
• Ability to act with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
• Language proficiency: NATO official languages – English or French at level V (Advanced) and the other at level III (Intermediate).
