Head of Sourcing – Strategic Procurement Lead

About the role

As the Head of Sourcing you will lead the strategic sourcing function within the Operational Excellence and Safe Business structure of a major bank. You will act as the key interface between sourcing, procurement, risk, compliance and senior governance bodies, ensuring that supplier decisions are compliant, cost‑effective and aligned with the bank’s long‑term objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing projects aligned with procurement strategy and business priorities.
• Steer off‑shoring, outsourcing and operational change initiatives related to suppliers.
• Define and maintain sourcing frameworks, standards and governance models in line with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
• Prepare and facilitate governance forums, including steering committees with ExCo or Board representatives.
• Monitor supplier risks, dependencies and performance in collaboration with contract owners and resilience stakeholders.
• Track sourcing performance and cost efficiency, recommending corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with third‑party and intragroup regulations across the sourcing portfolio.
• Develop sourcing and category‑management capabilities within the team through coaching and formal development.
• Act as trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on sourcing decisions and supplier‑related topics.
• Drive stakeholder engagement, communication and clear governance structures for all sourcing initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading sourcing or procurement teams in a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, risk management and operational resilience.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior executives and board members.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver long‑term value.
• Leadership experience in coaching and developing high‑performing teams.
