About the role

The International School of Brussels seeks an enthusiastic Elementary School Homeroom Teacher to join its vibrant community. Reporting to site leadership, you will create a supportive learning environment that fosters independent learners and international citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, monitor, and assess an elementary classroom instructional program based on individual student needs.
• Teach reading, language arts, writing, social studies, mathematics, and science.
• Differentiate academic and social materials to match each student’s instructional level.
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards to ensure a functional learning atmosphere.
• Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to address academic, emotional, social, and learning challenges.
• Participate in curricular and extra‑curricular programs, assessments, faculty meetings, and parent communications.
• Provide instruction to students with special needs, working with support staff and attending ILP accommodation meetings.
• Maintain accurate academic records and prepare required reports.

Required profile

• Knowledge of principles, theories, practices, methods, and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction.
• Understanding of teaching and learning standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Ability to adapt plans for students with varying abilities and diverse needs.
