API Web Service Developer (PHP, Python, JavaScript)

About the role

Keystone Solutions is looking for an API Web Service Developer to join a consultancy mission for a federal police client in Belgium. You will work on the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), upgrading a 24/7 platform that processes and analyses biometric data for thousands of field officers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evolve web services and APIs that enable data exchange between police applications and external partners.
• Design high‑quality REST APIs following best practices for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with front‑end and back‑end developers to integrate services into the ABIS ecosystem.
• Participate in technical analyses, architecture design, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Potentially create user‑interface components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset and ability to work autonomously.
• Self‑taught attitude with a focus on quality.
• Fluent in French or Dutch (passive knowledge of the other language required) and proficient in English.

Required skills

• API development and REST web services.
• Software architecture design.
• CI/CD, DevOps practices and GitLab.
• Expertise in PHP and solid experience with Python.
• Application security fundamentals.
• SQL, NoSQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Automated testing (basic level).
• HTML, CSS and JavaScript for UI work.
