AI Strategy Director, Development Operations

About the role

The AI Strategy Director joins GSK’s Development Operations Platforms & Innovation (DP&I) team to shape the AI‑native strategy for Development Operations. Reporting to the Head of Asset Acceleration and AI, you will define where artificial intelligence can deliver measurable value across clinical trials and drive the end‑to‑end deployment of AI‑enabled workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the AI‑native Development Operations strategy and roadmap, linked to clinical trial outcomes.
• Prioritise AI opportunities across Development Operations in line with R&D goals.
• Continuously scan the external AI landscape, translating emerging tools and vendor offerings into strategic implications.
• Determine build‑buy‑partner approaches for priority capabilities, balancing speed, risk, cost and long‑term platform value.
• Develop and defend business cases with clear ROI, enforcing stage‑gate discipline.
• Shape deployment strategies with enterprise AI, technology, data, security, regulatory and quality teams to ensure scalable, compliant delivery.
• Lead cross‑functional alignment and secure endorsement for the AI‑native strategy across the enterprise.
• Partner with R&D leaders to identify workflow bottlenecks and prototype AI‑enabled solutions.

• Hands‑on fluency with frontier agentic development tools.
• Experience collaborating with business SMEs and technology teams.
