Technical Project Manager – Data Migration & Azure

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead large‑scale data migration and cloud transformation programmes, primarily on Microsoft Azure. The role will involve coordinating cross‑functional teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring successful delivery of complex data engineering initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and monitor end‑to‑end data migration and transformation projects across on‑premise and cloud environments.
• Drive Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery models, adapting to project needs.
• Lead global, cross‑functional teams and facilitate SteerCo meetings, executive reporting and issue escalation.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including executive communication and conflict resolution.
• Oversee cloud migration frameworks, cost optimisation and governance on Azure.
• Ensure data validation, reconciliation and parallel‑run strategies for structured and unstructured data.

Required profile

• 12–18 years of IT experience with at least 8 years in delivery or programme management.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to operate in fast‑paced, complex environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

Required skills

• Azure ecosystem: Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory / Synapse, Azure Data Lake (ADLS), Azure DevOps.
• Data engineering: data warehousing, data lakes, ETL/ELT processes, Spark, SQL.
• Cloud migration frameworks, cost optimisation and governance.
• API integrations, micro‑services architectures.
• Experience with legacy modernisation (e.g., Cloudera, on‑prem to cloud).
• Telecom domain knowledge (BSS/OSS, billing, network data, CDR) is a plus.
• Project management certifications such as PMP, Prince2 and Azure certifications (AZ‑900, DP‑203) are preferred.
