Software Engineer – Java Backend

About the role

Join SOFICO’s international team in Ghent as a Software Engineer focused on Java backend development. You will help build the next‑generation calculation engine that processes millions of leasing scenarios in milliseconds, supporting the company’s mobility platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance backend services for the calculation engine using Java 17, Java EE7 and related frameworks.
• Implement a scalable micro‑services architecture capable of pre‑calculating complex leasing scenarios with promotions, services and extensive configuration options.
• Collaborate closely with fellow engineers and Product Owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in the full agile Scrum lifecycle – from refinement and implementation to testing and continuous improvement.
• Share knowledge within SOFICO’s global developer community and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Professional experience as a Software Engineer with strong Java backend skills.
• Proven ability to design and develop micro‑services based systems.
• Solid experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, fluent English and effective collaboration in an international environment.
