Senior System Administrator (Hybrid, Brussels)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to lead the development and evolution of the Federal Police’s software and systems infrastructure in Brussels. The role combines hands‑on server management with strategic design, ensuring reliability, performance and modernization of both Windows and Linux environments. You will work in a bilingual, interdisciplinary team and collaborate closely with experts in telecommunications interception, infrastructure engineering and IT operations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including GPO, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory.
• Manage, monitor and optimise virtualised platforms such as VMware, Proxmox and Hyper‑V.
• Ensure system security, patching, backups and business continuity.
• Contribute to the design of scalable, robust system architectures.
• Automate recurring tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash and Ansible.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, documenting infrastructure and processes.
• Collaborate with network, security and support teams to guarantee end‑to‑end reliability.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Windows and Linux system administration.
• Strong background in virtualization, storage and security.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent in French or Dutch, with good understanding of the other language, and strong English communication skills.
