Data Engineer (Mid-level)

About the role

Are you a data engineer who believes a pipeline should be boring so that everything built on top of it can be exciting? At Crunch we build the data‑driven companies of tomorrow, providing forecasts, pricing engines and AI agents that rely on solid data foundations. We are looking for a Medior Data Engineer to design and maintain the data layer for mid‑market manufacturers, retailers and supply‑chain firms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data platforms on Azure and Databricks, from architecture to production launch.
• Build clean, tested ELT pipelines using dbt, SQL and Python.
• Integrate source systems such as ERP, WMS, planning tools and e‑commerce platforms.
• Develop data models that serve dashboards, data‑science workloads and conversational AI.
• Ensure platform reliability, monitoring and cost‑efficiency, including cloud‑bill optimisation.
• Coach junior engineers through pairing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers and AI engineers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Advise clients on architecture choices and push back on sub‑optimal options.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines or platforms.
• Strong command of SQL and Python.
• Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework.
• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks or Azure data services.
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts.
• Fluent English communication skills.
