Senior Java Developer - AI-Driven Software Engineering

About the role

Are you an experienced Java developer with a genuine interest in AI and modern software engineering? We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a Belgian fintech company building a real‑time transaction monitoring platform. You will help shape AI integration throughout the software delivery lifecycle while upholding high standards of quality, security, and engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based backend services.
• Build scalable microservices and event‑driven solutions.
• Contribute to real‑time transaction processing systems.
• Explore and implement AI‑assisted development practices across the delivery lifecycle.
• Collaborate on architecture, solution design and engineering best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑tested code.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with analysts, architects and fellow engineers in an Agile environment.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Passion for software craftsmanship and engineering best practices.
• Interest in AI‑assisted software development and modern developer tooling.
• Familiarity with testing practices such as TDD or BDD.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with messaging systems, container platforms, cloud technologies or AI/ML integrations is a strong plus.
