Senior Consultant – Procurement

About the role

AION Consulting is seeking a Senior Consultant – Procurement to help public and semi‑public organisations optimise their purchasing processes. You will act as a hands‑on specialist, ensuring compliance with Belgian and European public procurement legislation while delivering operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Support public clients in defining and executing purchasing and sourcing strategies within the legal framework.
• Independently manage European and national tendering procedures, from market consultations to award documentation.
• Monitor legal conformity, transparency and proportionality of procurement files.
• Advise on governance, internal control, compliance and audit‑readiness of procurement activities.
• Analyse existing processes and organisational structures, recommending improvements such as centralisation, category management, contract management and digitalisation.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, legal teams and policy officers to ensure accurate and defensible procurement files.
• Facilitate workshops and translate policy objectives into concrete procurement plans.
• Identify market opportunities and contribute to proposal preparation and positioning.
• Represent AION Consulting, building lasting relationships with public administrations and inter‑municipal organisations.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of hands‑on experience in public‑sector purchasing or procurement consulting.
• Proven ability to execute procurement procedures independently.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian and European public procurement legislation.

Required skills

• Expertise in public procurement legislation and tendering processes.
• Competence in contract management, category management and procurement digitalisation.
• Ability to provide governance, compliance and audit‑readiness advice.
• Facilitation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
