Senior Buyer

About the role

Our client, a specialised public‑sector organisation, is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering value across the contract lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee major contracts and supplier agreements, ensuring timely implementation and renewal of commitments.
• Analyse risks and opportunities for purchase requests and advise internal clients on mitigation strategies.
• Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators and drive service‑improvement plans.
• Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and structured action plans.
• Manage the end‑to‑end contract request process while adhering to administrative and budgetary procedures.
• Propose improvements to technical specifications and stay informed about relevant legislative changes.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in public procurement, including supplier negotiation and contract management.
• Thorough understanding of public procurement laws and regulations.
• Strong communication abilities and the capacity to encourage initiative within a team.
• Customer‑focused, result‑oriented and diplomatic in professional interactions.
• Proficiency in Dutch or French; knowledge of English is a plus.
