Legal Advisor – Supervision of Asset Management & Investment Products

About the role

As a Legal Advisor in the Supervision of Asset Management, Savings Products and Bank Investment Products department, you will help strengthen public confidence in the financial sector and protect consumers. You will work within the FSMA, Belgium’s financial regulator, focusing on the oversight of asset management and investment firms.

Key responsibilities

• Handle applications for authorization and conduct ongoing supervision of asset management, savings, and investment product companies.
• Analyse business models, organisational structures, and service offerings for regulatory compliance.
• Review quantitative reporting, collaborating with economists when needed.
• Prepare and potentially participate in inspections, monitoring outcomes with the inspection team.
• Coordinate with colleagues supervising public UCIs, conduct‑of‑business rules, perimeter supervision, and data analytics.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law.
• At least three years of experience in the financial sector.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and synthesis abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch, French and English.
• Interest in finance challenges such as digitisation, fintech and big data.
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with industry players and represent the regulator’s positions.
