Inspection Process Engineer

About the role

You will join the Defect Inspection Engineer (DIE) team within the Inspection and Metrology Characterization (IMC) group at imec. The role focuses on ensuring the quality and stability of defectivity processes and tools in a 24/7 fab environment.

Key responsibilities

• Qualify processes and tools, monitor stability, and implement improvements to enhance quality and cycle time.
• Troubleshoot defectivity issues that cannot be resolved by first‑line support.
• Analyze data using statistical methods and present findings to peers and management.
• Develop new tool recipes, fulfill application requests, and investigate tool/recipe issues with root‑cause analysis.
• Collaborate with researchers, hardware engineers, operations, and industry partners in a multicultural setting.
• Innovate new characterization techniques aligned with imec’s technology roadmap.
• Work in rotating early/late shifts, including one weekend per four weeks, to support 24/7 fab operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong engineering mindset; FAB experience is a strong asset.
• Data‑driven decision making and high attention to detail.
• Fluent English with excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, organized, and as a collaborative team player.
