Freelance DevOps Engineer – Kubernetes & Cloud (Greenfield)

About the role

We are looking for a freelance DevOps Engineer to join a greenfield cloud‑native platform project. You will be responsible for operating and evolving Kubernetes environments on AWS, ensuring stability, security and performance while collaborating with platform, application and security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Kubernetes clusters using AWS EKS and Rancher‑managed RKE2.
• Handle cluster lifecycle tasks such as upgrades, patching, health monitoring and capacity planning.
• Investigate incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Manage AWS infrastructure services including EC2, VPC, IAM, load balancers, DNS and monitoring.
• Develop automation to improve operational efficiency and platform reliability.
• Maintain monitoring, alerting, runbooks and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with platform, application, networking and security teams to ensure stable operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in DevOps, cloud operations, platform engineering or Linux administration.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud‑native technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services and Linux environments.
• Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, TLS, load balancing, routing and firewalls.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, scripting, Git and troubleshooting.
• Strong documentation, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
