Freelance Accountant – Antwerp

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Accountant to support a client in Antwerp. The role is hands‑on, detail‑oriented and requires independent work while collaborating closely with management and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank statements and general ledger.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with Belgian accounting regulations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual closings, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and payroll providers.
• Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights to management.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Accountant or Freelance Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting and VAT regulations.
• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
