Director of Communications (Sustainability & Circular Economy)

About the role

EUCOBAT, the European association of national collection schemes for waste batteries, is seeking a Director of Communications to lead its communication strategy. Based in Brussels, you will help position EUCOBAT and its members as trusted voices on battery sustainability, policy, compliance and the circular economy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute EUCOBAT’s communication strategy aligned with EU sustainability and regulatory priorities.
• Increase EUCOBAT’s visibility in European battery, circular‑economy and environmental policy discussions.
• Manage external channels – website, social media, newsletters, publications and stakeholder communications.
• Create and adapt content that translates complex regulatory and technical topics into clear, credible messages.
• Oversee campaigns, reports, publications and event communications, both internal and external.
• Maintain internal communication platforms and support Board and General Assembly meetings.
• Organise international events and coordinate communication around them.
• Collaborate closely with the Secretary General, members and the EUCOBAT team.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in communications, preferably within an association, public affairs, sustainability or regulated sector.
• Strong passion for the environment, circular economy and sustainability.
• Good understanding of EU policy processes and sustainability topics.
• Excellent written and verbal English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution ability.
