Controllership Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Controllership Accountant to join our Finance team supporting AECOM entities in the Netherlands and Belgium. This position plays a pivotal role in statutory reporting, month‑end close, audit coordination and financial compliance across multiple legal entities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage financial administration for entities in the Netherlands and Belgium, including balance‑sheet, P&L and cash‑flow reporting.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, journal postings and general‑ledger accounting.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with local GAAP and legal regulations.
• Assist external auditors by preparing documentation, balance‑sheet reconciliations, statutory notes and responding to queries.
• Prepare VAT returns, statutory filings and other regulatory reports.
• Analyse budget variances, forecasts and financial performance to aid business decisions.
• Reconcile sub‑ledgers, maintain accounting system accuracy and uphold financial controls.
• Collaborate with offshore Global Business Services teams to ensure efficient accounting processes.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and special projects related to accounting policies and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics or a related field.
• 1–5 years of experience in accounting and reporting, preferably with full fiscal‑year cycle exposure.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with statutory reporting and audits.
• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Proactive, accountable and capable of managing multiple priorities.
• Effective communication skills in English.
