Communications & Events Officer (Dutch/French)

About the role

SHIELD vzw is looking for a Communications & Events Officer to shape its storytelling, activate its growing community and deliver impactful events. You will work in a hybrid setting, supporting the organisation’s communication channels, community platform and event programme across Belgium and potentially Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit newsletters, member updates, event invitations and LinkedIn posts.
• Manage and grow SHIELD’s LinkedIn presence.
• Maintain the public website, ensuring up‑to‑date information.
• Develop and support the Hivebrite community platform, onboarding members and publishing content.
• Coordinate national and European events, handling invitations, registration, logistics, speakers, follow‑up and evaluation.
• Collaborate with colleagues, members, partners and external stakeholders while ensuring inclusive and accessible communication.

Required profile

• Fluency in Dutch and French (mandatory) and strong written and spoken English.
• Excellent writing skills for newsletters, social media and stakeholder communication.
• Strong planning and organisational abilities with a hands‑on mindset.
• Interest in community building, events and digital platforms.
• Willingness to learn new tools and work with LinkedIn, mailing tools, Microsoft 365, Canva and Hivebrite.
