Backend or Fullstack Software Developer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Backend or Fullstack Software Developer to join Optimile’s engineering squad in Ghent. You will help build and maintain the backbone of Europe’s EV charging ecosystem, delivering clean, scalable Python code that powers thousands of charging sessions daily.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship high‑quality, well‑tested Python services that are reliable and easy to extend.
• Participate actively in technical design discussions, propose solutions, identify risks and challenge assumptions.
• Monitor, support and take ownership of the software in production, resolving issues promptly.
• Identify technical debt, propose improvements and apply the Boy Scout rule to keep the codebase healthier.
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews and share knowledge to raise the engineering bar.
• Mentor fellow engineers through pairing, coaching and constructive feedback.
• Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead, Product Owner and cross‑functional team members to translate product requirements into sustainable technical solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend or Fullstack developer, preferably in a SaaS or e‑mobility environment.
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to deliver production‑ready solutions end‑to‑end.
• Passion for clean code, scalability and continuous improvement.
