Teaching Assistant, Diagnostic Imaging (Veterinary Medicine)

About the role

Ghent University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Morphology, Imaging, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation and Nutrition, is looking for a teaching assistant (AAP temporary appointment, 20%) to support practice-oriented teaching in diagnostic imaging for companion animals. The appointment starts on 1 December 2026 at the earliest, is one year long and may be renewed indefinitely for five-year periods; it cannot exceed 30% of full-time workload.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with organizing, supervising and evaluating practical exercises in diagnostic imaging for companion animals
• Supervise students during radiographic examinations, including patient preparation, patient handling and guidance on image interpretation
• Supervise students during ultrasonographic examinations, including patient preparation, patient handling and guidance on image interpretation
• Support students in identifying clinical cases for their master's theses

Required profile

• Degree in Veterinary Medicine (Master); foreign diplomas need a NARIC certificate of equivalence
• Other professional activities and/or demonstrable experience contributing to practice-based teaching
• Interest in teaching in the field and in academic and/or project-based research and services
• Teaching experience or participation in extra training and conferences is recommended
