Staff Officer (Cyber Security / CIS Security Accreditation)

About the role

The Staff Officer will support the ACO Security Accreditation Authority (SAA) in accrediting NATO CIS systems and projects, especially those linked to the Digital Backbone and technology transformation. Working within SHAPE’s Strategic Employment Directorate, the officer will ensure cyber requirements are collected, accreditation processes are followed, and security is maintained throughout system lifecycles.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the ACO SAA in security accreditation of Digital Backbone and technology transformation projects.
• Gather cyber requirements from project teams and guide them through the accreditation lifecycle.
• Conduct security audits, inspections, and contribute to improvements to meet NATO security standards.
• Maintain liaison with NATO CIS Operational Authorities on accreditation and risk management matters.
• Support the development and implementation of new accreditation tools.
• Assist with maritime CIS and advanced consultation networks accreditation efforts.
• Evaluate information‑assurance threat vectors, risk assessments, test results and vulnerability reports.
• Represent the section at meetings, workshops, training events and exercises.

Required profile

• Professional experience in information security and network security assessments.
• Familiarity with risk management and cyber risk management processes.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams and NATO operational authorities.
• Willingness to undertake deployments, TDY assignments or exercises up to 183 days.
