Senior Product Engineer

About the role

DataCamp is looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join its AI-native team, which builds the systems millions of learners rely on to learn data and AI skills. The engineer takes large, ambiguous projects from idea to impact with real autonomy, prototyping, measuring and iterating in fast feedback loops, and partners closely with Product, Design and fellow engineers. The team uses agentic coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex, along with LLMs and AI APIs, to prototype faster and raise code quality.

Key responsibilities

• Own product or platform projects end-to-end, from idea and build to release, measurement and iteration.
• Shape the technical direction of the systems, from architecture through implementation.
• Own the services shipped, keeping them scalable, reliable and observable, many of which are powered by LLMs.
• Raise the bar for technical decisions, advocating for high standards in testing, observability, code quality and long-term engineering excellence.
• Use data, metrics and user feedback to decide what to build next.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical leadership and give thoughtful code reviews.

Required profile

• 7+ years building software across the stack; experience with the company's stack (TypeScript, Node.js, React) is a strong plus.
• Start-up or early-stage / small-company experience, thriving in fast-paced, high-velocity environments.
• Strong product mindset paired with pragmatism, making sharp trade-offs rather than chasing perfection.
• AI-native: agentic coding tools are the primary way of working, with 6+ months of daily, hands-on use, including wiring up MCP servers.
• Track record of taking large, ambiguous problems end to end, including greenfield 0 to 1 builds and improving complex existing systems.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of modern API design and microservices architecture.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js and React (strong plus).
