Senior Accountant

About the role

Cowboy, a maker of connected electric bikes, is looking for an organized and enthusiastic Senior Accountant for its Finance Team in Brussels. You will report to the Head of Accounting and handle a mix of day-to-day accounting, closing, inventory and fixed assets, plus ad-hoc projects. The role is initially hands-on while processes are being automated.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting accurately with other finance colleagues.
• Take part in monthly and quarterly closing, reporting and reconciliations.
• Support accruals and provisions, and handle inventory bookkeeping in line with the P2P process.
• Manage fixed assets: regular review and proper registration of depreciation and impairment.
• Follow up AR: aging review, invoicing, credit notes, bad debt, collections allocation and clearing.
• Review and book travel and expenses, ensuring internal policy is followed.
• Handle cash management: payments, cash allocation and cash flow monitoring.
• Take part in the external audit and coordinate statutory (BE GAAP) and tax compliance.
• Help automate AP and financial processes and establish internal controls.
• Handle ad-hoc requests and projects.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's in accounting, economics, business administration or similar.
• At least 3-5 years of work experience in an accounting position.
• Fluent English; other languages are a plus.
• Based in Belgium and able to work on-site at the Brussels office.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of General Accounting Principles (BE GAAP).
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office; Odoo is a plus.
• VAT knowledge is a plus.
