Science Community Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Science Community Lead to build and nurture a global community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts within a decentralized science ecosystem. Based in Belgium but fully remote, you will create engaging online spaces where scientific collaboration, discussion, and discovery can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Design, launch, and grow online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel architecture, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement mechanisms.
• Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions.
• Develop and execute programming that highlights member research, encourages cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and drives participation.
• Identify and connect researchers, emerging voices, and industry experts to foster knowledge exchange.
• Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high‑quality environment.
• Track engagement metrics, experiment with new formats, and iterate on community‑health strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
• Strong familiarity with online community platforms (Discord, Reddit, X/Twitter) and prior moderation experience.
• Excellent written communication with a warm, accessible tone.
• Comfortable hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive sessions.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Proactive, experimental mindset with genuine interest in biotech and life‑science research.
