Research Technician for Holstege Lab (Junior/Senior)

About the role

The Holstege Lab at VIB-KU Leuven seeks a motivated research technician to support processing of human brain samples from the 100‑Plus study. You will work on cutting‑edge omics projects aimed at understanding resilience to neurodegeneration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and organise large collections of human brain samples, including biobank and biosafety compliance.
• Perform wet‑lab procedures such as tissue processing, DNA/RNA extraction, molecular biology assays and preparation of sequencing libraries.
• Train and onboard new lab members, oversee ordering of consumables, and maintain detailed documentation of experiments.

Required profile

• Professional bachelor’s degree in biotechnology or a master’s in biomedical/biological sciences (or equivalent).
• Experience with general wet‑lab techniques and a strong interest in working with human tissues.
• Meticulous, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated and able to work collaboratively in a diverse research team.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
