Research Technician for Flow Cytometry Core

About the role

The VIB Flow Core in Leuven seeks a motivated Research Technician to support daily operations of its state‑of‑the‑art flow cytometry facilities. You will enable researchers to access and use advanced flow cytometry technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily maintenance, quality control, and calibration of all flow cytometry equipment.
• Assist with stock management, data handling, and the facility’s QC program.
• Train users on analyzers and FACS machines and provide technical support during experiments.
• Help researchers acquire, analyze, and present flow cytometry data.
• Report daily activities to the Head of Flow Core.

Required profile

• Professional bachelor’s degree in life sciences or industrial engineering with lab experience.
• Experience with flow cytometry, FACS, and related analysis software is a plus.
• Technology‑oriented mindset, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to work in an international environment.
