Post-Doc in Computational Genomics and High-throughput Genome Editing

About the role

The VIB-KU Leuven Center for Microbiology seeks a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join its Laboratory for Genome Editing and System Genetics. You will investigate how synonymous mutations affect gene expression and cellular phenotypes using large‑scale mutagenesis libraries and multi‑layered functional readouts.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze multidimensional datasets from saturation mutagenesis screens to extract biological insights.
• Develop and apply computational pipelines, including machine‑learning models, to link genetic variation with molecular and cellular phenotypes.
• Collaborate closely with experimental scientists to guide data generation and interpretation.

Required profile

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, genomics, computer science or a related quantitative field.
• Demonstrated experience integrating large‑scale datasets and extracting biological meaning.
• Strong interest in challenging biological questions and ability to work independently in an international team.

Required skills

• Advanced computational and statistical approaches, including machine learning or artificial intelligence.
• Experience with bioinformatics and genomics data analysis.
• Familiarity with high‑throughput mutagenesis data (advantageous).
