Purchasing Officer

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will ensure the timely procurement of raw materials, components, consumables, products and services that directly support production activities. This role guarantees continuity of supply, on‑time deliveries and strong supplier relationships within a fast‑growing surgical ophthalmic business.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor safety stock levels and trigger timely replenishment to maintain optimal inventory.
• Create new part numbers and set up new suppliers in the PMI system.
• Initiate, process and track purchase orders (POs) from creation to receipt.
• Maintain and analyse procurement‑related KPIs.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery, agreed pricing and quality standards.
• Manage receipt of samples, resolve invoice discrepancies and process PO receipts in PMI.
• Provide administrative support for all procurement activities.
• Communicate and follow up on supplier complaints and non‑conformities.

Required profile

• ESTC (three‑year higher education) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant procurement experience.
• Technical English proficiency for effective supplier communication.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to generate accurate reports and maintain records.
• Solution‑oriented with strong organisational skills.
• Team player with effective internal and external communication.
• Understanding of negotiation principles and contract terms.
