Privacy and Legal Counsel

About the role

Qover is seeking a Privacy and Legal Counsel to join its legal and privacy teams in Brussels. This position sits at the intersection of law, technology—including AI—data protection, and insurance, providing strategic guidance that shapes business direction while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on data privacy, regulatory compliance, and technology‑related contracts.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve privacy compliance programmes, maintaining certifications and GDPR adherence.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology licences, vendor agreements, customer terms, and data‑sharing contracts.
• Monitor regulatory developments and proactively advise stakeholders on impacts and required actions.
• Support the Compliance Officer on regulatory monitoring, financial‑crime compliance, and other legal matters.
• Assist the Data Protection Officer with GDPR compliance, DSAR handling, breach management, and privacy impact assessments (DPIA, TIA).
• Conduct due‑diligence assessments of third‑party service providers and maintain the Register of Processing Activities (ROPA).

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with solid experience in data protection, privacy law, and technology contracts.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR and other applicable European data‑privacy regulations.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply evolving regulatory frameworks to business operations.
• Strong analytical skills and the capacity to work cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and compliance teams.
