People Planning Specialist

About the role

As a People Planning Specialist you will ensure that IKEA co‑workers have schedules that match business needs while complying with legal and union requirements. You will work closely with unit managers and other stakeholders to translate staffing forecasts into reliable work schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the people planning strategy at unit level by analysing staffing data and people analytics.
• Maintain compliance with IKEA employment standards, legal and union regulations.
• Drive the full people planning cycle from forecasting to schedule execution.
• Prepare draft schedules, discuss them with unit managers and publish final versions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to approve vacancies with appropriate contract types.
• Educate and support unit leaders on the people planning process.

Required profile

• Passionate about people wellbeing and the impact of effective workforce planning.
• Strong knowledge of global and country‑specific people planning approaches, market and legal requirements, and budget management.
• Experience handling confidential records and information.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet business deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
