Payroll Specialist – Belgium

About the role

AbbVie is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing for Belgium and other complex jurisdictions. The role involves end‑to‑end payroll execution, pre‑payroll preparation, and support for year‑end activities while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with internal stakeholders and the payroll vendor to process payroll and resolve errors.
• Review, validate and approve payroll files such as reconciliation and bank files.
• Lead pre‑payroll activities, including data entry, master data quality checks and completeness verification.
• Support time‑and‑attendance processes and handle input errors from vendors or internal teams.
• Identify root causes, plan improvements and implement preventive actions.
• Resolve bank‑related issues in coordination with Treasury.
• Manage year‑end payroll tasks, develop calendars and communicate tax information to employees.
• Respond to queries from Tax, Treasury, Finance and BHR stakeholders.
• Lead small global, regional or country‑specific projects and participate in global project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of operational payroll experience in Belgium.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian payroll rules, time‑and‑absence management and profit‑sharing regulations.
• Proven ability to apply payroll regulations in day‑to‑day operations.
• Experience with Workday and integration of third‑party applications.
• Customer‑oriented mindset and solid work ethic.
