Patent Litigation Associate Lawyer – Brussels

About the role

Our client, a leading international intellectual property law firm, is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate to join its Brussels office. The role offers the chance to work on high‑stakes, cross‑border patent disputes for clients in life sciences, electronics and telecommunications, including cases before the Unified Patent Court.

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, develop case strategies and manage evidence for multi‑jurisdictional patent infringement and revocation proceedings.
• Provide strategic advice to global pharmaceutical, biotech and technology clients on patent portfolio strength, freedom‑to‑operate and regulatory matters.
• Participate in pioneering Unified Patent Court cases, leveraging the firm’s early‑mover advantage.
• Collaborate with specialised patent attorneys and lawyers across the firm’s international offices to deliver cohesive legal and technical solutions.

Required profile

• 1–5 years post‑qualification experience in intellectual property with a focus on patent litigation.
• Qualified to practice law in Belgium.
• Technical background (MSc or PhD in life sciences, chemistry or engineering) is desirable.
• Native‑level fluency in Dutch and/or French and professional‑grade English (C1/C2).
• Proactive, pioneering mindset with the ability to translate complex technical innovations into clear legal arguments.
