Monitoring & Linux System Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Monitoring & Linux System Engineer to join the infrastructure operations team of a major energy organization. The role focuses on ensuring the stability, availability and performance of large‑scale Linux‑based environments through advanced monitoring, observability and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced operational support for Linux infrastructure, handling incidents, service requests and operational changes.
• Design, improve and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions, including metrics collection, log aggregation, dashboards and alerting strategies.
• Perform OS‑level diagnostics, root‑cause analysis and incident resolution to reduce MTTD and MTTR.
• Manage Linux lifecycle activities such as patching, provisioning and routine maintenance.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and Infrastructure‑as‑Code, integrating automation with monitoring workflows.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based infrastructure deployments.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and network teams and participate in R&D around observability and platform reliability.
• Take part in planned standby/on‑call duties after the training period.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT operations.
• Strong experience managing Linux‑based infrastructure in large‑scale environments.
• Solid knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent distributions.
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability solutions; PRTG experience is a strong plus.
• Good understanding of metrics, logs, alerting and dashboard creation.
• Proven ability to detect, troubleshoot and resolve incidents efficiently.
