Modern Workplace Technical Lead (Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking a Modern Workplace Technical Lead on a 13‑month freelance contract in Brussels. The role will drive the evolution, stability and innovation of the client’s digital workplace, delivering secure, high‑performing and user‑centric Microsoft 365 solutions for thousands of employees.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and hands‑on leadership for Modern Workplace solutions within a high‑performing team.
• Design, implement and optimise Microsoft 365 services, including Office 365, Entra ID and collaboration tools.
• Act as the go‑to expert for complex incidents, technical challenges and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Coach and mentor team members, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure stability, security and technical coherence of the digital workplace ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, guidelines and reference implementations.
• Integrate Modern Workplace solutions with existing IT services and infrastructure.
• Champion hybrid and modern ways of working through practical and technological solutions.
• Contribute to projects with technical input, design reviews and implementation support.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation and operational guidelines.
• Monitor and evaluate technological advancements in Modern Workplace and M365.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as an IT architect or technology lead in complex IT environments.
• At least 15 years hands‑on experience designing, building and evolving digital workplace/end‑user solutions.
• 3 + years supporting hybrid or remote work models.
• 3 + years experience in project‑driven environments.
