Legal Counsel – Digital Technology

About the role

UCB is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Digital Technology team in Brussels. The role focuses on technology contracting and practical risk management, supporting both day‑to‑day operations and innovation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate technology procurement contracts, including services agreements, statements of work, licensing, cloud and software subscription agreements, and data processing terms.
• Manage incoming contracting requests through a contract intake portal, triage risk levels, assign next steps and ensure efficient progress.
• Contribute to contract templates, clause libraries, playbooks and workflow updates to improve consistency and speed.
• Support governance for artificial intelligence solutions by assisting with intake assessments, vendor safeguards and policy updates.
• Assist with cybersecurity and digital compliance work, providing contractual protections and operational guidance.
• Build trusted relationships with business partners by communicating clearly, documenting decisions and delivering timely legal support.

Required profile

• Law degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in‑house, focused on technology, AI or commercial contracting.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating technology agreements, including software, cloud services, licensing and vendor services terms.
• Strong contract judgement and the ability to communicate practical solutions to non‑legal and technical stakeholders.
• Junior‑level lawyer who values structure, collaboration and business‑aligned outcomes.

Required skills

• Experience with technology procurement contracts and contract management processes.
• Knowledge of AI governance and cybersecurity compliance considerations.
