Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Lawyer specialized in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. This full‑time, permanent position requires regular presence at the headquarters and offers the chance to work in a truly international, multi‑cultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and draft opinions on complex institutional and EU law matters.
• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels, and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work, and maintain contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and build relationships with external legal advisers.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor level), preferably a Master’s degree in EU law.
• Bar qualification is a strong asset.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in EU institutions, national bodies, or an international law firm.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are advantageous.
• Excellent command of English and/or French.
