Lab Technician – iPSC Microglia and Lab Operations

About the role

The Mancuso lab at VIB-UAntwerp studies microglia derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells to understand neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ALS. We are looking for a Lab Technician to support both experimental work and daily lab operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain sterile tissue‑culture conditions, prepare media and reagents, and support iPSC microglia differentiations (passaging, freezing, thawing).
• Perform routine laboratory techniques including pipetting, dilutions, buffer preparation, cell counting and basic molecular biology.
• Manage inventory of consumables, cytokines, media and reagents, ensuring supplies are always available.
• Place orders, track deliveries, handle quotes and resolve supplier issues.
• Contribute to improving inventory and ordering systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biotechnology or a related field.
• Experience with sterile tissue culture and confident use of a laminar flow hood.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping.
• Proactive team player with good communication and problem‑solving abilities.
