Lab Technician for In Vivo Multiplexed CRISPR Screening

About the role

The Laboratory of Causal Systems Immunology, part of the VIB Center for Inflammation Research in Ghent, is looking for a wet-lab technician to support in vivo CRISPR screening. The position is within the ERC Starting Grant project PowerPortrait, which aims to understand how the macrophage is regulated in health and disease. You will work under the supervision of a staff scientist, collaboratively and independently, on CRISPR screens from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

• Culture primary murine stem cells in vitro and use CRISPR to generate transgenic mice
• Perform cell and mouse work, cell transduction, multicolor flow cytometry and FACS sorting
• Carry out light/fluorescence and confocal microscopy and irradiation
• Support general lab tasks such as preparing buffers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in biomedical laboratory technology, biochemistry, biotechnology, animal care or a related field
• FELASA B/C certificate or willingness to obtain it in a timely manner
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Previous laboratory experience (placements completed during degree studies are sufficient)
• Willingness to work in a team and independently, with accuracy and attention to detail

Required skills

• Experience with in vitro work and with mice
• Molecular techniques such as PCR and qPCR
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
• Desirable: stem cell culture, intravenous and intraperitoneal injections, viral transduction, basic immunology, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy
