Junior AI Engineer – Freelance (Python, AI agents)

About the role

bMonkeys is seeking a Junior AI Engineer on a freelance basis to support a leading industrial engineering group in Belgium. The position focuses on building and maintaining AI‑driven solutions that are already embedded in the client’s daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evolve AI agents that automate operational workflows.
• Maintain and extend backend features of a custom ERP system.
• Design and implement REST APIs and data integration pipelines.
• Integrate large language models (e.g., OpenAI, Claude) into business use cases.
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries and manage database performance.
• Contribute to automation flows using Power Automate.
• Deliver clean, documented, production‑ready code.
• Collaborate closely with IT teams and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Pragmatic, delivery‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a structured environment.
• Strong team spirit and good communication skills.
• Curious, hands‑on attitude with a focus on tangible results.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• SQL / PostgreSQL.
• REST API design and integration.
• Experience with Azure cloud services (or similar).
• Familiarity with LLMs and AI agent concepts (e.g., OpenAI, Claude).
