Java Developer

About the role

Join the Engineering division of Thales Belgium and work within a dynamic team delivering sovereign cryptographic products. You will design, develop, and test secure software systems while ensuring compliance with the highest security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality, secure applications using Java (11+) and Angular, implementing complex cryptographic algorithms and protocols.
• Build and maintain backend services with the Spring framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security) and expose REST APIs.
• Participate actively in Agile Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver features on schedule.
• Perform rigorous unit and integration testing, automate test processes, and conduct code reviews to identify vulnerabilities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for designs, specifications, testing procedures, and security accreditation.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot deployed software, resolving complex issues promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in application development, preferably in defense or aerospace.
• Eligibility for a Belgian security habilitation and excellent command of English.

Required skills

• Java (11+) and Spring framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security).
• Angular for front‑end development.
• REST API design and implementation.
• DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, Git and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of cryptographic protocols, encryption algorithms and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with hardware security modules (HSM) and network protocols.
