IT Infrastructure Engineer (Systems & Network Technician)

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to keep data‑center hardware and networks running smoothly. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot physical servers, switches, routers and cabling, and you will be the go‑to person when equipment fails.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and deploy physical infrastructure for Google’s search and data‑center services.
• Install, configure and repair servers, networking gear and storage devices.
• Diagnose hardware failures, perform component‑level repairs and replace faulty parts.
• Support major facility upgrades and new equipment roll‑outs.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and 24/7 shift work as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience maintaining and monitoring server systems.
• Experience working in a data‑center or network operation centre environment.
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing and pulling.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Linux operating systems.
• Server hardware troubleshooting and component‑level repairs.
• Networking protocols and configuration of switches and routers.
• Data‑center hardware installation and maintenance.
• Experience with storage devices and networking gear.
