International Affairs Intern

About the role

The International Affairs Intern will support 5Rights Foundation’s global advocacy agenda, focusing on children’s rights in the digital environment. Based in Belgium, the role offers hands‑on experience in research, policy analysis and stakeholder engagement at the international level.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor developments in international digital policy, online safety, privacy, AI, platform governance and children’s rights.
• Analyse policy initiatives, consultations, resolutions and research relevant to children in the digital environment.
• Draft consultation responses, position papers, reports, speeches, advocacy materials and external communications, including social media and website content.
• Assist with stakeholder mapping and engagement with policymakers, regulators, civil‑society organisations, academics, multilateral institutions and industry representatives.
• Support the organisation of international meetings, workshops, conferences and advocacy events.
• Maintain advocacy databases, contact lists and project documentation.
• Contribute to coalition‑building, partnership development and international campaign activities.
• Provide administrative and project support to the international affairs team.

Required profile

• Strong interest and understanding of the international digital policy landscape and child rights.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear outputs.
• Strong organisational abilities and experience managing events or projects.
• Ability to build positive relationships across cultures.
