Freelance Senior Business Controller (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance Senior Business Controller to support a well‑established international business during a period of heightened activity. This 6‑month interim assignment is ideal for a commercially‑minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities across a complex, multi‑entity organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with operational and leadership teams to provide financial insight and support strategic decision‑making.
• Analyse business performance through reporting on actuals, budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and opportunities.
• Produce KPI reporting and financial performance analysis across multiple business units.
• Take ownership of investment tracking, CAPEX reporting and project‑related financial oversight.
• Support planning cycles, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reviews.
• Help strengthen financial governance, reporting quality and internal control processes.
• Provide hands‑on support to the finance team to ensure continuity of day‑to‑day controlling activities.
• Contribute to finance improvement initiatives and business projects.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Business Controller or Finance Business Partner.
• Background in large, international or multi‑entity organisations.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.
• Experience supporting projects, investments or project‑based financial reporting.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment with changing priorities.
• Proactive, organised and able to work autonomously while building strong relationships across the business.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of SAP.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis.
• Dutch language proficiency (fluent) – essential.
