Fixture Designer – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

The Fixture Designer will be responsible for the complete design of tooling used to manufacture and assemble high‑precision aircraft components. Working closely with other industrial development sections and production lines, the role ensures that manufacturing processes are optimised and meet customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Define new or modified manufacturing processes during the industrialisation phase, ensuring project objectives and customer specifications are respected.
• Propose design or specification modifications to facilitate manufacturing and minimise costs.
• Estimate fixture cost and set‑up time.
• Design 3D models and 2D drawings for fixtures and production aids, taking safety and ergonomic aspects into account.
• Produce detailed designs, drawings, and bill of materials for fixture components.
• Defend and optimise fixture concepts within a technical team that includes industrial development and shop‑floor representatives.
• Create clear set‑up procedures for operators.
• Provide inputs for method agents and NC programming teams regarding fixtures, manipulation and handling tools.
• Offer technical support during fixture fabrication, both internally and with external subcontractors.
• Assist on‑site at fixture manufacturers when required.
